Washrooms

During an international race conference, Dave McGillivray, the esteemed race director of the Boston Marathon, was heard to say the following: "It all comes down to T-shirts and toilets."
Well. Who can argue with those words of wisdom? Although, when you're out on the course, with some water and Gatorade sloshing in your belly, we're betting you'd probably pick the toilets over the T-shirt at that particular moment.
Immediately next to the Start/Finish area will be a large bank of portable toilets (approximately 50 or so).
- Note: You will also pass by this bank of portable toilets at approximately the 3km mark, as you finish the starting loop and go through the starting area again before heading out onto the main part of the course.
Out on the course, there will be banks of 6 portable toilets at each of the first 3 aid station locations, with 3 portable toilets located at or very near aid stations 4 to 7 and 2 portable toilets located at or very near aid stations 8 to 17.
There will also be banks of 6 portable toilets at each of the 4 Relay Exchange Points, with two exchange points located on the first half of the course and two exchange points located on the second half of the course.
In total, there will be 72 portable toilets out on the Full Marathon course, spread over 17 separate locations.
- This does not include the big bank of portable toilets at the Start/Finish area you will pass by again during the opening loop.
On the Half Marathon course, there will be 42 portable toilets, spread over 9 separate locations.
- This does not include the big bank of portable toilets at the Start/Finish area you will pass by again during the opening loop.
Speaking of having to use the washroom, please remember that you are running through public parks and streets. Please treat those parks and neighbourhoods as if they were your own. Please use the portable toilets.
This is not meant to insult your intelligence or hygiene, but trust us when we say that we wouldn’t need to put this information in here if not for some previous experiences that reflected poorly on our event and our participants.
