Weather & Cancellation Policy

Regina is the sunniest capital city in Canada. The city is noted for its clear, sunny days recording an average of 2,365 sunshine hours each year.

In September in Regina during our race, the average daytime high is typically around 17 degrees Celsius (63 degrees Fahrenheit) and the average low is typically 4 degrees Celsius (39 degrees Fahrenheit). There is usually little or no rain, but we have had some light drizzle for brief periods once or twice.

The major question mark in Regina – at this time of year or ANY time of year – is the wind. It can be calm, but chances are you will be facing some wind at some point during the race. Hey, we're on the prairies...it's flat and there's not much out there to stop the wind. The old joke is: if the wind blows your hat off, you can watch it blow away for the next three days.

If you are staying in a hotel or private home prior to race day, turn on the Weather Network on the TV the night before the race, and again early race-day morning. Local forecasts are given every 10 minutes on the Weather Network channel.

The only thing we can guarantee about the weather on race day is that we'll probably have some.

The Credit Union Queen City Marathon has implemented an EVENT ALERT SYSTEM. To learn about the EVENT ALERT SYSTEM and how it might affect you on race day, CLICK HERE.

Race Cancellation Policy

The Credit Union Queen City Marathon runs rain or shine, within the reasonable weather expectations for the middle of a Saskatchewan September.

However, stuff can happen and we do have a weather cancellation policy (not a policy about cancelling the weather, you understand...it's a policy about cancelling the race if the weather is really bad).

In the event that weather conditions are deemed by Credit Union QCM organizers to be potentially hazardous to participants and volunteers, the Credit Union QCM organizers reserve the right to briefly postpone or cancel the event outright. Cancellation of the event may take place either prior to the start of the event or at any time while the event is taking place.

A brief postponement and/or outright cancellation of the event may also take place for any other reason or situation wherein the Credit Union QCM organizers feel conditions may be potentially unsafe for participants and volunteers.

The decision of the Race Director is final. As stated in the COURSE RULES, there will be no refunds or deferrals for weather cancellation or cancellation of the event for any reason.

In the event of cancellation for any reason - including but not limited to weather conditions - funds not required to cover race expenses will be donated to the Credit Union QCM designated charities.
